ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
As a Construction Estimator/Project Manager you must have experience within the Construction Industry as a whole. Our Estimators and or Project Managers play a vital part within our company. This position is a Supervisory position, as you will maintain several jobsites with crews on each. Prospecting potential customers, generating leads, estimating projects and generating/maintain/increasing a client base are all part of our Estimators responsibilities. You will need to over-see all phases of your jobs from initial contract signing to completion (final punch). You will need to have the knowledge and understanding of cost breakdowns, blueprints and how to take a project from start to completion. Including staffing, materials and equipment.
In addition, estimators must also be able to handle receiving quotes for both materials and subcontractors associated with the projects being bid. Estimators must be able to communicate effectively with vendors and subcontractors to receive accurate quotes for materials, equipment and subcontractors related to the job they are estimating. As a result, networking is a critical skill that estimators needed to develop. Bids and estimates are developed using math skills including simple arithmetic, algebra and geometry. In addition, estimators also need to be very detail oriented. Attention to detail is vital when building a career as a construction estimator.
There is a lot of information to sort through when developing a construction estimate. Estimators must be able to consider multiple aspects of developing competent estimates including manufacturer requirements, building codes and insurance requirements. Building a successful career as a construction estimator requires candidates to be able to gather the information from the site and design a solution that meets the requirements of the building owner, the building code, the product manufacturer and potentially the insurance company. You will be required to follow OSHA Safety guidelines and West Coast Finisher’s Employment Policies. You must – at all times maintain a positive & professional attitude, along with clean appearance while on every jobsite.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing estimates and bids for construction projects.
- Completing take-offs to gather information for bids.
- Reading knowledge, plans, and specifications.
- Understanding, knowledge and navigating building codes.
- Reviewing sites and gathering information for estimates for work on existing buildings.
- Designing solutions for customer’s problems.
- Operating company estimating system to develop bids and estimates.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a focus on Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS (5+ years experience):
- Full knowledge of construction industry including codes but not limited to.
- Full knowledge of painting tools, equipment, materials and finishes.

JOURNEYMAN PAINTER
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is not an entry level position. As a Journeyman Painter you will be responsible for a crew of 1-4 painters and work under direct orders of the Project Manager of each project. You will be responsible for specific duties that may or may not be limited to the below. As a Journeyman Painter, you will properly apply paint or other finishes in residential, commercial, industrial or other settings. You should have the knowledge and technique depending on the object that is being painted.
In addition to paint, you may also apply primers to a surface to improve the paint’s adherence to the surface or use a sealer to improve the paint’s durability. On some projects you may use brushes and rollers to apply paint or another finish, while on others you may use paint sprayers and other power equipment. In addition to painting, you will work to prepare surfaces for painting. This may require the use of a wire brush, sandpaper or powered equipment that uses water or an abrasive to remove old paint and other debris. You may also fill nail holes, cracks and other imperfections in the surface you are painting. You may also transport and set up ladders and scaffolding on some jobs to reach the area you are painting.
In some situations, such as painting building exteriors, bridges and other elevated structures, you may need to use specialized equipment to safely paint a surface. You may also be responsible for the completion of some administrative tasks such as estimating project costs, completing invoices and other documentation. As a journeyman painter, you may supervise and teach lower-level painters. With additional experience and training, a journeyman painter may become a master painter or advance into supervisory or management positions. You will also be responsible for any/all equipment checked out/in, job materials, following OSHA Safety guidelines and West Coast Finisher’s Employment Policies. You must – at all times maintain a positive & professional attitude, along with clean appearance while on every jobsite. Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of all surfaces’ interior and exterior, proper phases of preparation and material usage.
- Painting of all surfaces’ interior and exterior, correct coating methods and material use. Assist in brush and roller painting in water base and oil base materials.
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers, pumps, ladders, extensions, scaffolding, lifts etc.
- Safely stores and labels all materials.
- Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
- Read and understand work orders, safety instructions, drawings/plans.
QUALIFICATIONS (5+ years experience):
- Must be able to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
- Must be able to carry (up to 50 lbs.), climb and work on ladders.
- Must know how to and utilize up to a 28’ extension ladders alone for entire work shift (including all sizes of extension and step-type ladders less than 28’)
- Must be able to bend, twist upper body, kneel, stretch reach, work on uneven surfaces for long periods of time.
- Must be able to erect and work on rolling scaffold for entire work shift.
- Wear & use respirators when necessary.
- Follow instructions and take directions with minimal error.
- Must have reliable transportation as you will be required to have personal tools at the job site.
- Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug test.

APPRENTICE
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This entry level job gives you the opportunity to learn a trade. As a painters’ apprentice, you will learn the painting trade with on-the-job and classroom style training. You will work closely with your foreman and the Project Manager of each project. You will have such responsibilities as equipment check out/in, job materials, following OSHA Safety guidelines and West Coast Finisher’s Employment Policies. You must – at all times maintain a positive & professional attitude, along with clean appearance while on every jobsite. The painters apprentice assists in all areas of the painting trades, including but not limited to: applying a full range of finish coats using multiple application methods and materials; mixes and matches paints and finishes; performs power washing, preparation, and paint application. Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists journeyman level painters in the preparation of all surfaces’ interior and exterior, proper phases of preparation and material usage.
- Assists journeyman level painters in the painting of all surfaces’ interior and exterior, correct coating methods and material use. Assist in brush and roller painting in water base and oil base materials.
- Assists journeyman level painters with wood finishing and refinishing, wood species characteristics, preparation, application of coatings and proper material usage.
- Operates, cleans and maintains all painting equipment, including brush, roll, sprayers, pumps, ladders, extensions, scaffolding, lifts etc.
- Safely stores and labels all materials.
- Erects scaffolding, rigging and ladders as necessary in a manner consistent with safety codes.
- Reads and understands work orders, safety instructions, drawings/plans.

- Must be able to operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely.
- Must be able to carry (up to 50 lbs.), climb and work on ladders.
